According to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s spokesperson Ellen Thrasher, “A small business is part of the heartbeat of the larger community.”

Customers at the checkouts at every store will be encouraged to purchase a toy for donation to a specific local charity as they complete their purchases. DRSS has identified and contacted key groups to partner with in this effort, such as Safe Nest, Shade Tree Shelter, The Las Vegas Rescue Mission, and "Tent City." The company will be preparing over 880 gift bags that will be distributed to those in need served by these organizations.

This year Discount Retail Store Services will be packing hundreds of gift bags with nearly $10,000.00 in much needed items for the Valley’s poor and needy. On the 18th of December, as a company, DRSS will spend the evening packing the gift bags which will be delivered the next day to a number of charitable organizations and families. Suppliers and partners to DRSS have already chipped in with cash and item donations according to the company, but more donations are appreciated. This year the local community is invited to participate in this much needed drive.

A Tradition of Giving
Discount Retail Store Services, a small local business development company, holds a “Christmas Gift Bags” charity drive each year in order to provide Las Vegas’ most needy with essentials and gifts in order to make their Holiday Season a little brighter. Last year they were able to raise just over six thousand dollars in gifts including clothing, bathroom products, food, toys and clothing for babies and kids, school supplies, books, and much more. Recipients ranged from low income families to the homeless. Included on the list were shelters, rescues, and schools with high poverty and homeless rates.
